Author's word:
"When we say recorder, we probably think of a flute that children play and gain their first elementary experience with music with. In the hands of virtuosos, however, this instrument can be a surprisingly suitable means of interpreting even very demanding music. It has many expressive possibilities and can easily handle all kinds of sound finesse, glissandos, micro-intervals, singing while playing, various types of vibrato, etc. When Jakub Kydlíček approached me some time ago to write a concerto for recorder, he did it skilfully. On the one hand, he motivated me that it would be the first concert by a Czech composer (which in the subtext meant that I should throw it with me so that no one would beat me to it...), and on the other hand, he brought a whole family of flutes (from the smallest to the largest) and showed what can be "coaxed" on them. I was so excited about the possibilities that I quickly got to work... The result is a three-movement composition, the most dramatic being the first movement with a relatively extensive cadenza (i.e. the part in which the soloist plays alone), where the technical possibilities of the recorder are used to the fullest. In the second movement, I accentuated the melodic possibilities of the instrument, while the third movement is at a brisk tempo, somewhat lighter, and in addition to the soprano flute, a small sopranino flute is also used."
