First act
Prologue: A Congregation of Shepherds and Nymphs.

Tirinto sings about his love for Amarilli. Glori, who is in love with Tirint, listens sadly nearby, trying to win him over. Tirinto, however, refuses to do so.

Aminta and Amarilli assure each other of their loyal love until the end. Tirinto witnesses this. In desperation, he persuades his (as he believes) father Elpin to ask Amarilli's father Silvano for Amarilla's hand in marriage for him.

Elpino and Silvano arrange the wedding of Amarilli and Tirint.

Gratiano boasts that he is a "posh gentleman" who understands everything. He is accompanied by the slick Magnific, who pretends to admire him, but laughs behind his back.

The rejected Glori confesses her grief, she doesn't want to live anymore. In vain do nymphs comfort her.

Glori is ambushed by a Satyr who wants to lustfully get hold of her. However, Tirinto arrives, snatches her from the clutches of Satyr and, touched by her beauty, falls in love with her.

The duet of Aminta and Amarilli: they learn that Amarilli is to marry Tirint and decide that they prefer to die if they cannot be married.
- Output - finale of Act I
The news arrives that Tirinto is the lost son of Silvano. He is therefore the brother of Amarilli. In this situation, it is agreed that Amarilli will be Aminta's wife and Tirinto will marry Glori. So everything ends well?
Act Two

Shepherds and nymphs come with the news that Aminta is dead.

The comic character of the boastful Gratian appears again, this time in the role of the unsuccessful and ridiculous seducer of the beautiful nymph Messaggiera.

Selvaggio mourns the death of his son Aminta.

But it turns out that Aminta did not die: he just fainted from grief and Amarilli brought him back to life with a kiss.
- Scene – Opera finale
So everything turned out well. Everyone is on the stage, singing faithful love and wishing both lovers (and actually also the audience) to: "never know nostalgia and never weep for their entire life, but a joyful life!
