Viennese Counterpoint, Op. 98 (Piano Quartett)
12'' (2024)
violin, viola, cello, piano
Concert composition for piano quartet.
A word for the program:
The composition Viennese Counterpoint Op. 98 was composed for the Wiener Klavierquartett. This ensemble premiered it in September 2024 at Vienna's Mozarthaus and recorded it in Prague in May 2025. The composition is made up of three contrasting parts that flow without a pause, and on the outside the work is supposed to give the impression of a one-movement composition. Each of the three parts is a small minimalist world of its own. The first part (movement) is dramatic, the second slow, and the third is rondo, although it is almost absent of secondary ideas. Rather, the motifs shift in phase and repeat, sometimes literally, more often with variations (ideally hardly noticeable), as in the whole composition.
